Razer is an excellent choice for heroes revolving around their basic attack. It enhances offensive attack output while providing critical survivability to traditionally fragile heroes. Try using Razer's ability offensively by tricking enemies into thinking you're retreating.

game stacked with mages Notes

if they are super fed and mid lane can't control them and they roam bot early, consider getting token before demon fang. If the enemy team consists of only casters continue with : woundsplitter, vampiric dagger and dark bargain. If the game is still not over, swap your token with full hp guardian helm

Pet choice

Razor gives you nice sustain in lane, extra auto attack damage and a tool for escape and play making. Currently the best option botlane against the fiki meta.
* activate fervor boots before using your pet ability, this way you can travel a longer distance with the invisibility.
Note that activating your boots while in stealth breaks your invisibility .

Bounder is a excellent pet choice as well, but it's not as good for botlane. The razor passive sustain is very much needed down bot.  It's good in certain matchups ( vs rook for example, the slow and the passive movement speed allows your to mercilessly bully the rook) . If you ended up picking this pet, it's better to go to top/mid as you might get bullied bot because you lack sustain.

Fiki is a pet that ruins most of bot lane matchups to a point where a random scrub can totally zone you from the wave and have better trades due to fikis heal. Luckily that pet scales poorly to late game compared to razor and bounders playmaking abilities.

items and crafts

  • Throwing axe of Desolation

This is the absolute best starting item.  Grants you health regeneration and ability to push faster and lasthit with the active.
Without the axe it takes your 8 autoattacks lvl 1 to kill a melee minion. It also helps last hitting under the turret, you deal more damage to the bosses and jungle camps.

  • Fervor boots

Item worth rushing on vermillion . Mobility and attack speed will grant you better trades in lane

  •  Demon Fang of Brutality

The first damage item you get in lane. Loads of damage!
Why not rush Golden Protector?  I find that gp on verm puts you so far behind damage wise ,regardless how you craft it.  It's good in lane, but after that its useless.

  •  Zealots Blade of Rhythm / Vampirism / Haste

Vampirism - That 4% life steal helps you enough with the sustain so you can easily do all the jungle camps and not worry about buying health potions or recalling.  It's the enchantment I get most of the time.
Rhythm - Gets you the most damage.  I'd only get this enchantment if I was getting Vampiric Dagger right after.
Haste - 10 more movement speed is not worth it I think. The two other enchantments just outclass it for verm.

  • Woundsplitter of Ruin

Crit makes you deal insane amount of damage. Note that there are 3 options how to craft it.
Power Relic + Agility Stone + Agility Stone -  My current favorite, gives you abit more damage for mid game
Agility Relic + Power Crystal + Power Shard -  This is what I used for a long time. But recently I'm running more full attackspeed items after my crit.
Power Relic + Power Crystal + Power Shard - Do you have a tinder in your team who can shield you? Then go ahead.

  • Crushing Mace Of Sundering

Power Crystal + Agility Stone is the most optimal version of it. Get this item after Zealots Blade if you know that the enemy team will have a lot of Resistance.

  • Vampiric Dagger of Thirst

Agility Stone + Agility Stone. Best enchantment and enough life steal. Reason for double agility stone is simple, dark bargain scales best with attack speed.

  • Titan Slayer of Marksmanship

Power Relic + Agility Stone + Agility Stone - Enemy tanks are ahead and stacking a lot of HP? Get this after Crushing Mace.
Agility Relic + Power Crystal + Power Shard - Get this one with more attack speed if you are buying this item later on in the game.

  • Dark Bargain

Best damage item in the game, also should be bought later on on vermillion as other items take priority. Not an item to rush on him unfortunately. Get it with two Agility Relics since it scales best with it.

Fun items to mention :

  • Frost Prism of Swiftness

Gives you the ability to chase people down and kite. Its a situational item, but rather build damage, position yourself well and kill everything

  • Berserkers Mask of Madness
Its a fun item, but a double edged sword. Don't get it in a serious game, rather in a super heavy stomp where you can have fun with it.

  • Thundercaller of Fortune
You already have good wave clear, this item offers you no damage. Wouldn't recommend at all

  • Numbing Lanter of Focus
Not an item for you, if you really desire that effect on your enemy let a teammate build it and peel for you with it.

Defensive items :

  • Barrier Token of Warding
Agility Stone + Power Shard + Power Shard. Enemy team has a fed magic damage dealers and you don't want to get one shot.

  • Stone Skin
Health Crystal + Agility Stone + Power Shard. A little bit of HP helps out within it. Makes you pretty much unkillable in combination with Vampiric Dagger. Dilligence enchantent is not worth the money on my mind.
Agility Stone + Agility Stone + Agility Stone. You don't care about the extra hp and want more attack speed.

  • Guardian Helm
Health Relic + Health Crystal. You could get the Mending enchantment if you'd like. Desperation enchantment does not work on this item. Get this later on to switch out your Barrier Token.

  • Inertia Boots
Late, late late in the game when the enemy is focusing your down really hard with CC. Easy way to deal with hex.

  • Oracles Trinket of Protection
Do deal with CC. Don't buy it though, inertia boots are a better option. Make someone in your team buy it, that is if you can trust them with it.

  • Hexbane
Agility Relic + Power Crystal. Your teammates are mentally disabled and the enemy team has a fed rook/rip or what ever that you can't duel with out it. It's a rare purchase, but sometimes you just need it.

noteworthy botlane matchups

General botlane knowledge:

level 1
The best possible trade level 1 possible is to hit the enemy with your Q along with the minions ( Q damage equals roughly 1 autoattack level 1 on the minons = you get level 2 faster)  and then autoattack once.

level 2
E is far superior to W at least level 2 in my mind. Extra range lets you auto them without getting too close.

level 3
Q +  auto attack when your W is ready to proc + another autoattack if it's possible.

* Obviously try to hit your W through the minions to harass them.
* When ever your razor' passive is up -> trade. The sustain from it is necessary.

Early purchases:
1. tier one boots + potion if you need it.  The extra potion will always come handy, you don't want to be low hp and zoned off the wave.

2. Fervor boots + a potion if you need one.  Fervor boots allow you to trade even better, dodge skillshots etc.

3. 2 power shards from the demon fang.  Power > attackspeed early

4. Agility stone

5. Demon fang. By this time the laning phase should be over. If you did really well in lane early, you will get this before or at the same time your opponent gets their Golden Protector.

What to do after you've pushed down the turret?

Depending on the matchup and how your midlane is doing.
1. If you are winning hard, keep pushing him under the tier 2, grab the visionward and continue the onslaught
2. You won your lane, but mid lane has no pressure and keeps dying? push it out, do green camps. Recall after you are low, run mid and see if you can help them. If you can't then just continue doing the same thing bot.
3. You lost your lane/ turret ? Grab the sightward so you wont get roamed on from mid. If you can duel the enemy botlaner, do it. Outplay him and push our your lane.
If you can't then do your best farming under your t2 turret or abandon the lane entirely and try to catch farm somewhere else if they have kill pressure on you. Let someone else sit bot while you grab every recourse possible.

Midgame
Is all about managing and catching waves. You need to know where to go and when to back off.  Group when needed for objectives, but if there's nothing to gain by it- don't.  Example your team is grouping mid and the enemy team has zaku, trixie and god knows what else. 90% time you won't get to even get to auto attack the turret - you are better off pushing a sidewave.  If you do this, be very careful of who is missing from the map.
What to do when they are rotating to catch you? Don't run back to base, recall in a bush instead.

Lategame
This is all about grouping up and proper positioning. Don't face check any bushes that you don't need to and when doing objectives let your teammates do all the scouting for you.

Machups:

Rook

This is the most common machup you will find.  Verm has the poke advantage while rook has the all in potential.  So what you have to do in this one, is to poke him and keep him low enough hp, so when he does decide to all in you will survive.
I'd put 3 points in E in this matchup,  so you can poke him more freely and not be that afraid of him Q'ing in and killing you.  You need to win this and keep him down before he gets GP,  if you don't it gets very difficult to duel him.

What happens if you can't duel him anymore? Either farm under the turret safely or after you've lost your turret abandon the lane and keep finding farm.

You can dodge his ultimate with your razor clone if you are fast enough.

Hale
Another lane where you have to bully extremely hard early. Push him under the turret and hope he will lose GPM.  If you fail to keep him low and he has gotten a GP, then just farm under the turret.

Shank
Really one sided matchup for you, take every opportunity to autoattack him and keep him at low HP. Watch out for the level 6 where he can grab you under his turret.

Fetterstone
I haven't dueled a decent one in a long time.  Basically level 1, hide in your minions so he wont get kill you with Q + autoattacks.  This should be a matchup in your favor, due to the massive range advantage you have.

Harrower
You counter harrower in the laningphase really hard. Once you push him under the turret, he has no tools to last hit. As he has not enough damage to kill the creeps even when the time is right to auto them. Auto when ever he goes for a lasthit. Watch out though, later on with enough farm he counters you

Vermillion
When he has razor - it's an even playing ground. In VvV if you know that he is also building Demon Fang. Buy it with full power instead of the regular one as it's stronger.
Bounder -  you will win this just by having sustain in lane. He can outplay you with the bounder though, so watch out.
Fiki -  outrageous sustain from him. Max E first and never trade with him, just farm. Once you got your Demon Fang, try fighting.  You need to outplay him though.

Moxie
Counters you. Still you need to trade with him. Best time to do this is when he uses his W.
Max E, so you can farm in safe distance and rush fervors. In an all in he will always come on top, and his ulti is up faster than yours. So what to build against him in lane after boots, to survive?  It's up to you. You can either get Barrier Token to survive him or Vampiric Dagger ( 2 power shards + agility stone) to sustain if you know it's a extended laning phase.

Trixie
Most people use fiki on her and rush Rune Boots.  She has massive kill pressure on you since level 2 and it gets even worse at level 6 where she has her ulti.  Basically the outcome of this is decided on how good the trixie is.  If she is real good, then just play like she can go in every moment and farm from a far.
