Pet

Pet Choice

There are 3 valuable pets for Caprice: Fitz, Mystic and Luster.

Luster -
  This pet is to make sure you get all the gold during the laning phase even if you ended up with someone really bad in your lane. So whatever happens you get early power boots and pyrostaff.

you are stuck in lane with the biggest animal vs high pressure lane

Beside your Throwing Axe and Q, you now also have lusters passive (even its active helps get you those cannon minons or green camp )

Fitz - Better than luster in any way if you can farm nicely and get early kills. Gives you movement speed and extra damage- all thats needed for ganks

Mystic -
The damage bonus is really nice. Although when you play caprice right, you already have enough damage.  Pick mystic if you plan to play her bot.

In conclusion : Since strife has no draft mode, no way of knowing who your teammates are going to be or who you are going to face - pick the safest option if you are prone to tilting like me.

Items and Strategy

So whats the strategy with her?
Buy a throwing axe and get all the gold during the laning phase. If you get kills its good, but do not die in lane.
Your goal is to get 6 and have power boots and start ganking.

Next step is getting pyrostaff. To get it faster, sell your axe to complete the purchase. If you weren't deadly before, then now you are guaranteed to get kills.

Check their team composition and think what you need to build.
Do they have casters that you need to duel? -> barrier token

Someone needs to be shut down during fights? -> early hexbane

If none of that is true - continue as a regular caster -> arcane emblem - grimoire -> hexbane
Why hexbane everywhere? Some champions are hard to kill / have escape mechanism . Helps if have trouble landing your W.

Last two items are situational.
If you need more damage get conduit / need to get to flak during fights go full hp iceforged+immortal gaze.

miscellaneous things

pyrostaff vs crystalline shiv
Pyro makes you an even stronger duelist vs shiv that gives you manaregen to clear waves and power. You are meant to gank not to sit in lane and clear.
tldr: as a ganker pyrostaff holds absolutely more value than shiv. After ganking or diving turrets you need to recall anyway so you replenish your hp/mana that way.

Arcane emblem enchantment: focus vs heritage
All squishies have 10 base resistances. You will deal true damage to them with out any enchatments on emblem.
Tanks with pincer and dampening cloak will have ~50 resistances and aren't your targets anyway - I doubt the extra -5 resistances would make a difference.
tldr: So you are better of getting heritage enchatment for that sick gold value mana.

take Q. Has longer range than W -> better for last hitting

Ganking

Absolutely go mid with caprice. Gives you two lanes you can easily gank when you reach level 6.
